Callus and Corn Removal

Also known as Helomas or Clavus

Corns, also known as helomas or clavus, are common foot conditions that can cause discomfort and pain. These hardened areas of skin develop in response to friction or pressure on the feet and can be found on various parts, including the tops, sides, and between the toes.

Causes of Corns

Corns develop as a natural defense mechanism of the skin against excessive friction and pressure. Some common causes include:

Ill-fitting Shoes

Tight or narrow footwear can cause constant friction and pressure on specific areas of the feet, leading to corn formation.

High Heels

Shoes with high heels force the weight of the body onto the front of the foot, increasing the likelihood of corns on the toes and ball of the foot.

Toe Abnormalities

Conditions such as hammertoes or bunions can cause misalignment of the toes, leading to friction and corn development.

Repetitive Motion

Activities that involve repeated rubbing or pressure on specific foot areas, like playing musical instruments or manual labor, can also contribute to corn formation.
